Welcome to our blog! We have created this blog in an effort to provide our clients and prospective clients with a little insight into our law firm and our legal practice. Johnson Welch P.C. is an Omaha-based law firm focusing exclusively in the representation of those injured by someone else’s carelessness (often referred to as “negligence” in the legal arena). We believe that focusing our collective energy, time, and concentration into this specialized area of the law allows us to more effectively and efficiently serve our clients’ needs. We intend to periodically update our blog page with current events, changes in the law, tips for prospective clients, and as a forum to discuss our thoughts and feelings about issues that may or may not be related to our practice. We hope our postings will provide assistance, provoke thought, and help you learn a little bit about us. We look forward to your comments, thoughts, concerns, etc. Enjoy!
FIRST ENTRY---UNCHARTERED WATERS I receive phone calls almost every day from prospective clients facing a situation they never dreamt of being in: Having their lives turned upside down because of somebody else’s negligence. Injured or killed by a doctor…nurse…pharmacist…or other medical professional. Injured or killed at a hospital. Injured or killed at a nursing home. Injured or killed by a semi-truck…pick-up truck…or other motor vehicle. Injured or killed because of a defective product...medication…food. Injured or killed at work. It doesn’t matter what causes injury or death, nobody dreams it will happen to them. Quite frankly, nobody thinks this will happen to anyone they know and love. Now they’ve found themselves in a scary situation. Mounting bills…extreme pain…unable to work...unable to help around the house…unable to participate in activities with family and friends…perhaps even death…the list goes on and on. Almost everyone I talk to who finds themselves in this situation tells me they are “not the suing type”…they have “never filed a lawsuit before”…they are “not that type of person”…“I didn’t want to call but…”. These phrases are almost inevitably followed with “but this case is different” or “this situation is different.” The truth is, when it’s your case, it is different! In fact, when it’s your case, it is the most important case in your lawyer’s office! You don’t need to apologize or make excuses for calling. If you have any questions or concerns of any nature, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are happy to help, whether you want to talk about a potential case, or you simply have a legal question. People like you are calling almost every day. They are not the “suing type” either, but it happened to them or someone they love, which makes their potential case “different”. We treat everybody who calls as if their case is “different”. We treat all of our clients as if their case is the most important case in our office. If you have any questions at all, we will do our very best to attempt to answer them. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
